Since my earliest family experiences with visits to my grandparents home in Downeast Maine’s Gouldsboro, collecting basketfuls of blueberries and seeing hovering gulls at Schoodic Point, I totally knew as an artist , I would someday live in Maine. Even as a very young boy, I have always loved the Downeast accents of the fishermen and the simple ethic of hard work which they so well portrayed.

At the University of Massachusetts, Amherst I studied printmaking and drawing and I have always enjoyed innovating techniques within a creative framework. To paraphrase Picasso, creativity is not enough you also must be innovative. I came to my oil on panel and work on paper processes by working very loosely to remove the photo-realist in me.

My exploration of art surrounds a feeling of being home in Maine. My art references visual and emotional qualities of Maine. A lifetime of memories of breathing the fine Maine air, tie together with my days as an artist, drawing upon the past experiences and running through my current life visions to create anew in the form of painting. As an older artist, I am making each day of the next 30 years count! I want to share my work with people of like minds. I wish you to enjoy my artwork as much as I have enjoyed making it.
